George Steinbrenner shared New York's passion for winning and made it his personal responsibility to put the best team on the field money can buy. Who else would pay more for the left side of an infield than other teams entire payroll? Win at all costs was the name of his game and he delivered more times than not. Under Steinbrenner's watch the Yankees went to the World Series 10 times and won 7. Say what you want about Steinbrenner's impatient, abrasive attitude, but it got results. There's nothing like winning in the Big Apple, just ask Reggie Jackson, Roger Clemens, and Derek Jeter. George Steinbrenner demanded it and his star players fell right in line.
